The location & size: Of the damaged area of the brain + degree of recovery determine potential impairment from injury. Changes in the nerve cells & their connections in the fetal brain, not visible on mri, predispose a child to have autism; if not present, autism is unlikely. Work with his early intervention therapists to promote his development; at his age, he can "recruit" undamaged areas & may do quite well.

Should Not: As far as we know, it will not.Autism is thought to have a genetic foundation and trauma does not seem to be a trigger.
