Foreign body in eye: The eye should be washed out with sterile water or saline and there should not be any problem unless redness or pain persists for greater than 12 hours.

Match in eye: This could cause an corneal abrasion or thermal injury, with risk of infection or inflammation. If the eye is red, painful, sensitive to light, or has decreased vision, see an ophthalmologist as soon as possible. At the time of injury, irrigate immediately with fluid and seek medical care esp. If painful or decreased vision(ophthalmologist, er, urgent care center).
