Usually: Usually it will. Occasionally, steroid eye drops are needed for a couple of weeks.

It should go away : It should go away in a few weeks to months. There is no permanent damage. You can use artificial tears to help with the redness until it goes away on its own in a few weeks. If doesnt see an eye doctor. You may have something else going on.

Dx - optic nerve hyperemia. Blurred vision in left eye for more than a year. Possible causes? Can be from use of Zaditor (ketotifen) for allergies?
