Dry: There are a number of reasons for dilation of blood vessels on the conjunctiva (white part of eye). Some of the common reasons are simple conditions such as dryness or blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelids). Other reasons can include growths such as pingueculum or pterygium. Certain inflammatory conditions can also be possible causes, along with thyroid disease among other conditions.
