So post thyriodectomy a hoarse voice isn't normal?

Is it persistent: If it is more then few weeks since thyroid surgery، recommend examination of voice box، return to your surgeon/otolaryngologist for such evaluation.

Short-term only: A brief period of hoarse voice is acceptable after surgery since the nerve that controls the vocal cords is in the surgical field during thyroidectomy. After 2 weeks, you should see a laryngologist for a stroboscopy to evaluate the movement and closure of your vocal folds. It could also be related to the breathing tube from surgery so, get checked.
