Need to improve BP: Ou need to get your BP under control first before having surgery. That can easily be achieved by starting or adjusting your medication.

Blood pressure: As long as the blood pressure is under control well before surgery, it is not a contraindication to having surgery . If you do have high blood pressure and are considering surgery, you should see your primary md well before. Blood pressure meds will be continued the day if and after surgery to ensure your blood pressure is normal.
