A member asked:

What if patient is "abnormal" in tests but completely normal in life and then treatment inadvertently makes patient "normal" but patient feels worse?

Treat the patient : We focus on treating the patient and not the labs. The labs have to be taken into consideration in light of everything else, including history and physical findings as well as clinical progress response to treatment.

Not Great!: It would be especially helpful to know which correct treatment was given for what abnormal test! feeling "worse" afterwards may or may not be related to the treatment you received. Doctors think this way (typically) in order not to miss another diagnosis (possible explanation) that might otherwise go unconsidered. That said, discussing this openly with your md, is the right thing to do. Go ahead!
