LOTS of good things: Heart rate and carbon monoxide in your blood drop. Heart attack risk begins to drop and your lungs work better. Coughing, shortness of breath and risk of lung infection all decrease. After a year your risk of having a stroke is back to normal. In 10 yrs your risk of lung cancer death is half that of a smoker's. Cancer risk of the throat, esophagus, bladder, kidney, and pancreas also decrease.
