Contact oncologist: A patient who gets brownish urine after receiving chemotherapy should contact his oncologist or primary care doctor. Some medications can cause brownish urine, as can certain foods. Kidney problems and liver problems can also cause brownish urine. The doctor can decide on the cause of the dark urine, and start a treatment if needed.

Brown urine: The commonest cause of brown urine is bile which is usually also associated with yellow discoloration of the eyes and clay colored stools. Causes include liver inflammation, blockage of bile ducts by stones or pancreatic tumors. Another cause is hemolytic anemia which is destruction of red blood cells by the body. You must report this symptom to your physician or oncologist for proper testing.
