Time: Mostly it just takes time for it to go away, you could use over the counter numbing medicines for relief. If it continues you should seek an exam from a physician. There may be other underlying causes.

Any ulcerations?: If there are ulcerations on your tongue, this is often precipitated by an injury or irritant causing apthous lesions. A topical numbing agent will afford relief. This usually last about two weeks.
