A member asked:

How can i have pcos and have normal testosterone levels?

Possible.: The diagnostic criteria allow for clinical or biochemical evidence of hyperandrogenism. Therefore if you have male pattern hair loss, hirsutism or acne you qualify without having elevated testosterone.

Look further: With pcos, free testosterone is usually elevated even if total isn't. Other hormones may also be elevated like androstenedione and dheas. Pcos is also a diagnosis of exclusion, meaning that other causes of high androgens need to be ruled out, particularly non-classical cah and potentially cushing's syndrome. Other conditions also should be ruled out. Please discuss with your doctor.
