Seek help now!: There's no way to tell what's going on without examining your friend, but either diabetes or thyroid problems (or other hormonal problems) could cause the symptoms your friend is having. So could lots of other very serious things. It is imperative that he gets medical attention immediately to rule out anything dangerous going on.
