See an oral surgeon: Most oral surgeons offer sedation. If you really need to have a wisdom tooth removed, you may opt for sedation. You will have no memory of the procedure and it isn't scary at all. Have a friend or relative go with you to the doctor. You will go in and the next thing you will remember is leaving the office with your friend or relative.

Call an Oral Surgeon: Cleary you need to find a gp dentist that you can trust. Call the local dental society for help. Ask a friend who they like can be a great way to find some one. At your first visit tell the receptionist your concerns. Tell the dental assistant about your fear.Ask the dentist what he will do to allay your fear. If you don't like their response go find another. Most are very compassionate and caring.

One step at a time.: After treating patients for over 40 years, many of them phobic, this is what i suggest. First ask around from friends, neighbors, co-workers that you trust for someone that they have been happy with. Set up an appointment for only a consultation. I find that it's like jumping in the ocean or pool for the 1st time. Go slowly until you trust the dentist. It gets easier each visit. Good luck!

Ask a friend: Ask a friend or co-worker for a recommendation for their dentist. They are often a good source for referrals. The dentist can evaluate your problem and either treat your problem or refer you to an oral surgeon who can perform your surgery with some form of sedation comfortably and safely.
