A member asked:

Lower back pain that runs to my butt and legs had an mri done while back and said i had a bulge in my l-4 could that be affecting me?

Maybe: But just a diffuse disc bulge would not necessarily cause those symptoms. Could be sciatica and not due to the disc.

Yes : Pain running down the back into the buttock or legs maybe from pinched nerves in the low back, particularly the l4-5 or l5-s1 disc levels. Sounds like if it is bothering you it will be helpful to check with your primary md or a spine doctor to evaluate this further. An MRI is often helpful to determine the cause if the pain is severe and doesn't resolve on its own.

Quite likely: While I do not intend to diagnose your condition on line it could well be that this bulge is causing impaction of a nerve that can affect your butt into your legs. I would contact a reputable pain management specialist who can narrow down the diagnosis and suggest treatments. If you go to primary care please do not let them put you on opioids which will simply mask the pain.
