Can't tell: Pus-filled infected areas that are just on the back of the neck are often mild staph infections rather than acne. If they've been around more than two weeks, a physician's office visit is in order, and allow any hair that's located there to continue to grow.

Folliculitis: It sounds most likely to be folliculitis. This is a fancy word that basically means an inflammation or a pimple of the hair follicle. Most of the time it may be treated with an antibiotic the you apply to the area twice a day like cleocin-t solution.
