Heel pain: This sounds like a phenomenon known as post-static dyskinesia where pain increases with rest. Most commonly caused by plantar fasciitis - an inflammation of the ligament that supports your arch.

Most often I find: This to be a tendonitis or fascitiis condition. Try wearing a night splint when you sleep which keeps the foot at approximately 90 degrees to the leg.
