Increased cv risk: Troponin i is a highly specific enzyme released by cardiac cells that, if elevated might suggest myocardial injury. It can be released in the setting of acute coronary occlusion (acs), but might be elevated also in cases of extreme demand (example sepsis, hypoxemia), or reduced clearance (renal insufficiency). In most settings an elevated troponin correlates with increased cv risk.
