Rugged circumstance!: Your niece's prognosis depends on so many things. I am guessing she is diabetic, but that her blood sugar is elevated as a consequence of infection. The ventilator is giving her system a break while antibiotics take hold. She's probably under the care of many doctors here; you may find the ICU nurses to be excellent advocates here in helping you understand what's happening. Good luck to all of you.

Complex answer: Your relative is most likely in icu, treated by experts, who can help you better with answers. You provided very limited information. Your niece recovery depends on her immune system, how early treatment started, cause of her sepsis, sensitivity of bacteria to the antibiotics and many other factors.
