Normal.: Sounds like this could be normal. If they are not spreading, not painful, i would suggest these are prominent taste buds (vallate papillae) on your tongue and red spots in the back of your throat are patches of lymphoid tissue. Ask your friends to look in their mouth and match it up.

Painful? Allergies?: Do they get bigger/smaller? Do you have any medical issues or taking any medications, over-the-counter or prescription? I would recommend you seeing a dentist first who does in-depth oral cancer screenings such as velscope -- just to rule it out. Stay away from alcohol-based mouthwashes like listerine because they can enhance irritations, and cinammon, since it can cause allergic reactions.
