Possible Psoriasis: Psoriasis affects nearly 3% of the population and can certainly affect patients with asthma, although we tend to think of eczema being associated with asthma. Psoriasis can be itchy as well. Start with good moisturizers and an otc hydrocort cream, but you will probably need to see a dermatologist for more powerful treatments and to confirm the diagnosis.

Help?: Not quite sure of the connection as to why can't asthmatics have psoriasis. Though asthma may be allergic in nature, psoriasis is described as immune in nature. Both can exist together. Perhaps your physician thinks your pulmonary condition is something other than asthma?
