Scar guard/ steroids: You can use a product such as scar guard: http://www.Bing.Com/search?Q=scar+guard&src=ie-searchbox or steriod injections by the surgeon can help as well. It will also depend on whether the scar is "hypertrophic" or a "keloid.".

Non-surgical scar Rx: Plastic surgeons can lessen scars by a variety of methods including some non-surgical methods. For example, dermabrasion or lasers can lessen scars and these do not involve cutting. See your doctor to find out what method is best for your scar tissue. Not all scars are alike and no one treatment will work for everyone. Sometimes we use a combination of treatments for best results.
