I do not say this lightly, having a grandson with a " porencephalic cyst." The doctor-patient relationship is with the child & his parents, so all you can do is wait for them to share information. Be positive & supportive, even though you're scared witless. " The Kids" need you to be a very helpful rock who does whatever they need it to do.

Mom & Dad need : more information. Areas of damage from low blood & oxygen flow can occur before, during or any time after birth. If damage occurred early but no developmental delay, muscle weakness/tightness or learning problem were noted, maybe other parts of the brain took over the fluid-filled, damaged area's function. Maybe the cystic area enlarged recently, irritating surrounding brain tissue. Wait & see.
