Yes: They can increase risk of infection, slow healing, and reduce well-oxygenated blood to the knee. Yet, you owe it to yourself to check with your orthopedic surgeon to evaluate for DVT or infection.

I Don't Think so.: In my experience with many patients with diabetes, pulmonary hypertension, or hypertension who had undergone knee or hip surgery, it does not affect the healing process , as long as you follow post op instructions and do the appropriate physical therapy. Of course your diabetes and hypertension should stay controlled. But osteoporosis can affect your healing. Take calcium supplements with vit.D.
