Is it a phobia?: If the feeling is limited to when driving, under what conditions does it occur? In crowded traffic, fast traffic, bridges, tunnels, night time, only when alone in a car, when people in the car are telling you how to drive, when you are tired? Have you had an accident that was serious or scary? Others? If it can be identified, counseling would be helpful. If it continues, check with your physician.

Yes..panic attacks: Significant anxiety/panic attacks can be quite debilitating for some folks...During a panic attack, one may feel a sense of doom, rapid heart rate(palpitations), shortness of breath, chest pain, tingling on hands/fingers/lips, dizziness, blurry vision etc..Some even faint! this can be dangerous if driving etc..So if your symptoms are severe and bothersome, please consult doc..
Good luck.

A 31-year-old member asked:
Why do some anxiety medications cause dizziness?

Anxiety: Anxiety stimulates release of norepinephrine from brain which stimulates your metabolic functions and your arousal system to give you the physical symptoms . Medications that reverse this effect and quiet down the arousal response lead to sedation.

Better breathing can: Reduce immediate unpleasant anxiety symptoms by attention to your breath. Dizziness - even fainting - can be brought on by shallow, rapid breathing. It would great to find a cbt therapist to treat the anxiety. Until then, here's a tip. Do several cycles at least several times daily in addition to stress times. Nasal inhale (4 sec) hold in (6 sec) full blow exhale (8 sec). Smokeless smoking!
