See doctor for exam: A woman trying to conceive (ttc) should inform her primary care physician, ask about overdue or needed immunizations, get a general exam and give a health history to see if any conditions need evaluation. She should also avoid toxins, alcohol, tobacco. And a very important step is to get fit by eating a healthy diet and exercising. Writing down dates of periods is useful. Alert OB when missed :).

Prepare your body: You are definitely doing the right thing by taking folic acid. You should ideally be taking Folic Acid for at least 1 month prior to conception. Also, if you are on any medications, discuss them with your doctor as certain medications can be dangerous for early pregnancy. Avoid all alcohol, tobacco, or illicit drugs. Otherwise, keep your body healthy with good nutrition and regular exercise.
