For comfort: You can use a wrist brace only if your wrist is sore. The brace does not make the cyst go away it will only make it feel better. You can also try over the counter anti inflammatory medications such as advil or aleve (naproxen).

It depends.: If you have had surgery to remove the ganglion, most hand surgeons will immobilize the wrist for about one week, and then encourage motion to prevent stiffness. A removable splint may be used for comfort for 2 or 3 more weeks. If you have not had surgery, no immobilization is required.
