Time to see doc..: Knee effusion can be from infection (i.E lyme), rheumatologic disease/arthritis, trauma, gout, bleeding in (hemophilia) the knee etc... It is not possible to tell exactly what you have or to better advise you since the information you provided is so limited. Thorough history and exam are very important for an accurate diagnosis..Please consult doc for eval. Motrin/aleve may help a bit. Good luck to you.
