You are worried.: You are right that a growth on the testicle needs to be evaluated. Testicular lumps sometimes are cancerous, and an ultrasound (soundwave) test will likely be ordered by your doctor to sort it out. The fact that it's painful makes me wonder if it is an infection/inflammation. I think you may be suffering some anxiety symptoms as your mind pictures a frightening scenario. Get checked. Good luck.

Doubtful: Testis cancer typically is not associated with testis pain. Nevertheless, you need an urgent evaluation of the testis and scrotum to evaluate you for this pain. Testicular torsion can cause severe testicular pain, nausea and vomiting. If not treated emergently, testicular necrosis can occur. Get to the er.

Less likely: You need to see your doctor to have it examined. I doubt that it is cancerous-eventhough anything is possible. Other possibilities like testicular torsion, or torsion to the vasculature, incarcerated hernia, inflammation like orchitis, epididmitis etc have to be ruled out. You need an ultrasound to evaluate this. Go to see your doctor or go to er if it is so painful.
