Discuss with doctor: During an echocardiogram (ultrasound of heart) the motion of the walls of the heart is evaluated. Hypokinesis (poor movement) of the walls of the heart may be due to a number of issues. Treatment will depend on the cause and your current symptoms and will need to be individualized for your needs. You may need further testing, adjustments to meds, or nothing at all.

Heart attack?: Abnormal wall motion suggests that a heart attack took place. That may be confirmed with a nuclear stress test or a cardiac catheterization. Afterwards, medications are used to prevent more damage from taking place. Damage if untreated may cause progressive weakening of the heart.
