A member asked:

I am a high school bowler and do not know if i have a hernia or not. i have some pain off and on but no bulges in the skin?

No Bulge, No Hernia: Both hernias and pulled muscles may cause pain in the groin, worsened by lifting or activity. In general, a hernia is associated with a bulge/lump as well. Ironically, hernias typically cause less pain than a pulled muscle. I recommend scheduling an appointment with your doctor for a hernia exam.
