Treatment and Costs: I believe that the dentist should diagnose your treatment and establish your treatment plan along with the sequential order of treatment and fees. That is what we do in our office. However, it is perfectly acceptable and common in many offices for the auxiliary staff to implement and coordinate it from there. Every office can establish their own policies and guidelines.

YES, This is Common: Dentist will formulate a recommended treatment plan & alternative treatments after examination of your teeth, gums & oral hygiene. They will generally discuss their finding & treatment plan with the patient & answer any questions. The discussion of the treatment cost, financing and scheduling is generally delegated to the treatment coordinator & alternatives here can be discussed. Ask questions!
