YES : I believe everyone in the us should take vit. D in the winter months as it is impossible to get adequate vit. D though diet or sun during this time. Vit d does many things including helping us absorb calcium from our diet. It is not difficult to get adequate calcium from our diet. I do advise taking vitamin k with vit. D as that helps to make sure that calcium goes to our bones & not our arteries.

Depends on diet: If you eat a good diet with foods that contain calcium, you may not need as much calcium. I would go through your average weekly diet with a nutritionist or doctor and see what they think. You may also want to consider a bone scan to look at your overall bone health.
