Fairly serious: Cysts form in areas of bone degeneration. Avascular necrosis meand that the bone is "dying" . There are few stages for this so there may be a possibility to reverse this... You have to treat this asap.

A bone lesion: Avascular necrosis can occur after a fracture in that some of the blood supply to the bone is compromised, causing a dead portion of bone. Pain and limited motion (if near a joint) can result. Surgery is often necessary to resolve this.
