Not through gut: This describes any way of delivering medication or nutrition bypassing the stomach / intestnie ("para" -- alongside; "enteral" -- gut). Most often this means giving it by vein; it can mean injection or implantation.

Parenteral.: Something that is administered intravenously or intramuscularly. Regardless, the agent doesn’t require absorption by the GI tract - it enters the bloodstream directly.
