Intestinal problem: Tpn is nutrition given via an iv. It is quite tricky, and only used in cases where the intestinal tract is very, very impaired.

In the veins: Total parenteral nutrition is provided in the veins as protein, sugar and fats to support life when the intestinal tract is not able to absorb its nutrition.
