Low chloride level: Hypochloremia is a low level of chloride (cl) in ones blood. A normal level of cl is 97-107 meq/l in the blood.
Some auses of hypochloremia are: long periods of diarrhea, vomiting, sweating. It is also seen with the use of laxatives, diuretics, steroids and bicarbonate (sodium bicarbonate).
Cl is regulated by the kidneys. If hypochloremia is present one should make sure there is not abnormality in kidney function.
