GET CELLULAR LEVEL: Spectracell labs uses a patented method to measure intracellular level of nutrients, such as b12, in wbcs. This is more accurate than a serum level obtained from rbcs. As a rule, local labs are unable to provide much nutritional information, with the exception of vitamin d and iron. However, a CBC with high MCV and/or MCH values can raise one's suspicion of a B12 and/or Folic Acid deficiency.

B12 test: B12 is tested in a blood sample drawn from your arm. The test will report as a concentration of B12 present in blood. Normal values range from 200 to 2000 pg/ml. Even normal values, though, may associate with deficiency of B12. If concern exists, your doctor will order homocysteine blood levels. If homocysteine blood levels are elevated, then a functional B12 deficiency exists that requires B12 Rx
