A member asked:

How useful is a b12 level blood test? is that not just based on what you have recently ingested?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Quite useful: If you can't absorb B12 (pernicious anemia, atrophic gastritis, fish tapework, no salivary glands, chronic pancreatitis, others), it'll let you know. Take a big dose and it still won't be super-high because plasma binding capacity is finite. I'm glad you're taking a proactive approach -- when the question is serious disease, trust your physician rather than internet disinformation.
