Surgery of children: Pediatric surgery is a specialty that deals with the unique surgical needs and diagnoses of children from birth to age 18. Some surgeries are the same as adults although the method may vary significantly and some procedures are unique to children such as reconstructive procedures of the chest, lungs, GI tract. Childhood cancers are included. Ped surgeons have special training and are board certifi.
