Hemorrhoid Surgery: Hemorrhoid surgery is a procedure done to treat enlarged hemorrhoids. There are several variations, depending on the type of hemorrhoids you have, their size, and your doctor's expertise in a particular procedure. Most are done as an outpatient. While the biggest complaint is pain following surgery, newer procedures are able to minimize discomfort and time spent off work/school.

Multiple Techniques: Rubber band ligation, sclerotherapy, infrared coagulation, and surgical hemorrhoidectomy are all techniques used to remove hemorrhoids. Generally, surgical hemorrhoidectomy is reserved for more severe problems, and is performed in an operating room. The other techniques generally are performed in the clinic or surgery center for smaller hemorrhoids.
