Simetimes: Hemmorrhoidectomy is a painful procedure but for patients who have not improved despite maximal medical therapy it may offer definitive treatment. Expect 2 weeks of sugnificang discomfort after surgery.

Surgery is painful: For patients who have not ever had severe pain at the site of the hemorrhoids, i've found they don't do well with the surgery option. If you have had thrombosed hemorrhoids before and have felt the severe pain, the surgery is on that same order and lasts about 10-14 days for most people.
