Maybe,maybe not: Fisting is common in the first couple of months as a reflex in the newborn & often can be triggered bu the lightest touch on the palm or just happen. This brings the fingers & thumb in to a clutched position. By 3-4 mo the baby will have the hand open more & the reflexive grasp gives way to a purposeful grasp.A hard inward deviation of the thumb that will not relax is a problem
