Depends on situation: Rsv can be a simple cold & no problems or a major event requiring supportive hospital care.As the cough starts it tends to worsen for 4-5 days before stabilizing for a while then it starts to improve.Hospital care is needed when the kids respiratory rate is > 60/min or fluid intake is poor.Oxygen, fluids & close monitoring are the basic rx.If oxygen levels are ok & kid is drinking well they go home.

Follow up suggested: Some babies need to be readmitted to the hospital. RSV infection at this age should be followed closely. Your physician will assess the baby's oxygen saturation and rate of breathing. Positive signs include normal respiratory patterns and normal feeding.
