Always risks, but...: There are always risks of an angiogram. For an adult, the risks (mild and severe) are about 1-2%. I'm not sure how this translants to a child. Having said that, if your doctors are considering the procedure, then most likely the benefits outweigh the risks and it's a necessary procedure.

Benefits vs Risks: There is no safe procedure. Even getting blood is risky. It really depends on what type of angiogram is needed. The biggest risk is the material injected. With normal kidneys, this risk is very low. The xrays used to expose the child to radiation, but this is usually less radiation than 2 hours of sun exposure. So you have to decide if the info from this is worth the risk.
