Fluid retention: Fluid retention can increase pressure on the median nerve and exacerbate carpal tunnel. There are times that diruetics given for fluid retention help cts. Thyroid disease can affect extracellular fluid and increase swelling and nerve symptoms too. Even a dietary change that restricts salt can help. But if you have a positive EMG seek treatment concurrently for both issues.
