A member asked:

Is there a way to diagnose adult adhd using an old (3 months) fmri? the scan was originally performed for truth verification and i'm newly diagnosed.

No: Adhd is diagnosed on the basis of symptoms and history. Imaging studies, like MRI are of limited use for this diagnosis. They are rarely necessary, and only serve to rule out other causes for the symptom picture.

Functional MRI's are: Not used clinically yet. What do you mean by truth verification? Like a "lie detector?" you can always take the report to your mental health providers who'll be interested, but will use dsm-iv diagnostic criteria for adhd & any comorbid conditions you may have.
