A member asked:

I had an upper tooth extraction 6 days ago (148 hrs) i forgot and swished vigorously while rinsing. what are the chances i disturbed the clot?

Vanishingly small: At six days after the extraction, that clot is already well on its way to being replaced by healing connective tissue. Assuming you're otherwise comfortable, you should return to your normal oral activities, assuming your normal oral activities are, well... Normal.

Slim to none: At day 6 the clot would be well established.

You should be fine: After six days, much of the healing has already occured. If you are not in any pain and there is no swelling, i would not worry too much.

Little chance. : After six days of recovery, you should be fine to swish now with rinses. You should be well on your way to recovery if : 1) your tooth was not impacted 2) your tooth was not infected. If you experience severe jaw pain, please return to your dentist or your surgeon for a post op checkup. Take care...

Very little: If you are 148 hours post-op, chances are secondary healing has occurred. Disturbing the clot should not be an issue.
