Irritated airways: Prednisone can be used for a variety of medical conditions, but is frequently used to treat the diagnosis of bronchitis because it will lessen the inflammation in bronchial pathways, leading to easier breathing, less coughing, and a faster resolution of your condition. It is safe when taken for short periods of time either as an oral or injectable medication.

Fights inflammation: Prednisone is a strong anti-inflammatory medication. Perhaps you have had some narrowing of your bronchial tubes - and maybe some wheezing. Prednisone may help these symptoms. Prednisone is usually taken for a brief period of time, though. Taking it for long periods may increase your risk for diabetes, obesity, and bone thinning. But taken for a brief period may help your symptoms greatly.
