Explore options: Anterior disk displacement can cause significant bite changes leading to pain in the jaw joint (tmj). Splint therapy is one option that can help, but wearing it 24/7 can be difficult. Other options may include jaw exercises, occlusal adjustment (grinding on the teeth to alter the bite) or orthodontics. If your dentist is unsure, a referral to an oral medicine specialist may be of help.

Yes but..: If the bite does not go back to normal you will need to wear the splint indefinitely or need to have treatment to restore your bite like multiple crowns, surgery, orthodontics or a combination.
