It depends: Unfortunately, you don'[t provide enough information. Why was C3 measured in the first place? Also, what other protein is high? C3 is also an "acute phase reactant", meaning that it is increased with any form of infection or inflammation. If the high protein you mention is serum globulin or c-reactive protein (crp), that would be due to the same causes.
